Sahyadri Hospital Bibwewadi is organizing a special camp for treatment of Hernia. This camp will be organized on 30th of June and 1st July between 8AM to 3PM. At the camp, patients can get free check up and consultation by eminent specialists.

Dr Nitin Pote, general surgeon from Sahyadri Hospital Bibwewadi, explained the symptoms and causes of Hernia. He said, “Hernia is a commonly used term which means – protrusion (bulge) of Abdominal content through a weak spot. It can happen at various locations but the common amongst them being the groin region, near umbilicus and sites of previous operations. Patients usually find out by themselves that they have an unusual swelling in the groin region which is increased on strenuous work, or nagging pain in that region brings to the attention the presence of new swelling which is prone to develop an Inguinal Hernia.”
Dr Pote also suggested that it should be treated in the early stages as it may cause complications later and surgery becomes difficult for long standing hernias. Unfortunately there are no medicines which can cure Hernia and the only treatment is surgical treatment.
Presently, Laparoscopic method is advised by most of the doctors for Hernia treatment as the patients can resume their normal schedule of work in four days. It also guarantees minimum post operative pain and blood loss.
